Decreasing Diagrams
نویسنده
چکیده
This theory contains a formalization of decreasing diagrams showing that any locally decreasing abstract rewrite system is confluent. We consider the valley (van Oostrom, TCS 1994) and the conversion version (van Oostrom, RTA 2008) and closely follow the original proofs. As an application we prove Newman’s lemma. A description of this formalization is available in [3].

Confluence by Decreasing Diagrams - Formalized
This paper presents a formalization of decreasing diagrams in the theorem prover Isabelle. It discusses mechanical proofs showing that any locally decreasing abstract rewrite system is confluent. The valley and the conversion version of decreasing diagrams are considered. 1998 ACM Subject Classification F.3.1, F.4.2
متن کاملDecreasing Diagrams II
This theory formalizes a commutation version of decreasing diagrams for Church-Rosser modulo. The proof follows Felgenhauer and van Oostrom (RTA 2013). The theory also provides important specializations, in particular van Oostrom’s conversion version (TCS 2008) of decreasing diagrams. We follow the development described in [1]: Conversions are mapped to Greek strings, and we prove that whenever...

متن کاملProof Orders for Decreasing Diagrams
We present and compare some well-founded proof orders for decreasing diagrams. These proof orders order a conversion above another conversion if the latter is obtained by filling any peak in the former by a (locally) decreasing diagram. Therefore each such proof order entails the decreasing diagrams technique for proving confluence. The proof orders differ with respect to monotonicity and compl...
متن کاملA geometric proof of confluence by decreasing diagrams
The criterion for con uence using decreasing diagrams is a generalization of several well-known con uence criteria in abstract rewriting, such as the strong con uence lemma. We give a new proof of the decreasing diagram theorem based on a geometric study of in nite reduction diagrams, arising from unsuccessful attempts to obtain a con uent diagram by tiling with elementary diagrams. 2000 Mathem...
